An old photo
And a question
Easter is looming, which means a long weekend for many of us, at least here in the UK (and extra hard work for lots of other people, particularly if you work in supermarkets, restaurants, and places like that).
It’s a time for turning off the computer and getting outside to listen to the birdsong. It’s a time for sitting in a traffic jam somewhere on the M25. It’s a time for chocolate (assuming that you haven’t already started). And (at least if you’re my wife, who has got quite a bit of work this week) it’s a time for ploughing through a few thousand words, safe in the knowledge that no new requests for translation will come in until Tuesday.
Before I turn off my computer and go out into the garden to contemplate just how long I can let the grass grow this year before I’m told off, I thought I’d share a photo with you, and ask a question.
The question is this: where do you think the photo was taken, and why do you think that?
The answer is in an article I wrote for the ITI Bulletin’s May-June 2009 issue, but don’t cheat! If nobody answers, then I’ll blame the algorithms. And if your surname is also Appleyard, don’t give the game away!
Happy Easter/Happy Passover/Happy Chocolate wherever you are – see you on the other side, when I’ll let you know the answer.
