It was a long time ago. They were fun though, and on a good day you got from one side to the other so quickly. Smaller ones still run to the Isle of Wight.

Oh, I didn't know about the Isle of Wight hovercraft. Looks like I'll have to make a trip of it

School trips by ferry remind me of school days (Berry's or Harding's Coach from Taunton to Plymouth then a Britanny Ferry to Roscoff and on to St Brieuc).

I did that Plymouth - Roscoff crossing a few times before heading to Dinan. It could be rather unpleasant on a rough day.

At least one crossing to Roscoff was very rough. I remember a night crossing Portsmouth - St Malo to go off and do work experience in France too. Character building experiences!
